Greg's wife told him to join a club & get
out more
now she wants him home!
Margaret wanted to speak well at a family reunion.
She made an
impression on us, and she really impressed her family.
John was presenting at a Trade Expo. He joined
Toastmasters
3 months beforehand to help overcome his nerves. He credits
his success at the Expo to his Toastmasters training and
his careful preparation of his subject matter.
As Rachael puts it; "I certainly can't deny
the fact that the support
and encouragement I receive from the many club members has
been an important factor in my achievement so far."
"And it's fun!"
When you join
Toastmasters, you receive a manual detailing
ten different speeches for you to make. For example, the
first speech, or "icebreaker" is just to get you used to speaking
in public. Other speeches teach you the importance of voice,
gestures, props and invite you to make entertaining,
informative and structurally sound speeches. Each time you
speak, you are evaluated on your speech and given points
that can help to improve your speaking style or your
speech structure.
As well as
formal prepared speeches, Toastmasters
also offers the opportunity to make small, informal
speeches. Each role in Toastmasters has some speaking
component, so you
will always have an opportunity to
speak if you wish to do so.
There are many
different areas of Toastmasters, from public
speaking to leadership roles. So come along, there is something
for everyone at Toastmasters.
