Arrive early and familiarize yourself with the room
If using microphone & lecturn, stand at lecturn and talk
into microphone get a feel for them.
Make sure that you have rehearsed and revised your speech so
that you can do it with ease.
Imagine yourself walking confidently up to the lecturn and
presenting your speech. Remember: everyone wants you to
succeed, they want you to be informative & entertaining,so
imagine your triumphant glow as they clap at the end of
your inspiring/informative/entertaining speech..
Easier said than done, but just take deep breaths, holding
them
for four to five seconds .Try doing some physical exercise -
while no one is around! If you can,try touching your toes
and get the blood rushing to your head (and brain)
Lots of us fall into this trap. Don't apologise and draw attention
to
faults that your audience didn't know you had. Remember that they
don't know your speech the way that you do, so if you missed bits,
they will never know - unless you tell them.
